Well the time has finally come for the club to host the first round of its club championship sponsored by G and R Building and Maintance LTD at its home track at Sculthorpe, Near Fakenham, Norfolk.
The track has had some adjustments over the winter months and proved to be challenging to all the riders.
The Auto riders saw Travis Smith take a clean sweep as he raced around the shortened circuit, leading the way in front of Louis Dutton. Tai Elvin Andrews and Fred Clements battled for the 3rd spot but it was Tai who came up to secure the position overall.
In the 65cc class, Thomas Brown took the lead and the flag in race one, but a problem in race 2 saw him DNF. He went on to win race 3 convincingly but this wasn’t enough to put him on the podium.
The top honours were taken by Joshua Bryenton who had 3 solid rides, Connor Baldry who has just moved up from the Auto ranks finished in 2nd and Shane Lock in 3rd.
The Small Wheel 85cc class saw some excellent riding skills shown by George Ellis and Kane Fisher, they battled hard but it was Kane with 2 race wins who secured the top spot. Ryan Rudd and Lewis Wigger who had blistering starts finished in 3rd and 4th respectively.
In the Big Wheels it was a hat trick for Shaun Southgate, who in all 3 races made a pass for the lead and then pulled out a lead in front of the chasing pack of Luke Parker, Aidan Wigger and Ryan Powley. It was a closely fight but a fall in race 3 for Ryan saw him drop down a few places, meaning a 4th place finish.
The drama unfolded in the Youth class with 2008 champion James Palmer looking to start his 2009 campaign in style, but with David Kemp also moving up to the youth class, James was not going to have it plain sailing.
James had a hard fall in race 3 which saw him in dead last, meanwhile Mark Sharman took the victory with David in 2nd. James made his way up through the pack and finished 5th.
As the adults had been split into A and B, in the A group, it was a clean sweep for Mark Rudd who took the win in both races, Chris Place and Martin Townsend rounded off the top 3.
In the B group, Craig parker who missed out qualifying for the A group due to an unfortunate incident, took both race wins, with Sam Wiger in 2nd and Luke Reeve in 3rd.
The club would like to thank G and R Building and Maintance LTD for sponsoring the meeting and also everypone involved running the meeting. The next meeing is on Easter Weekend at Sculthorpe.
